Bluesky
My go-to microblogging platform in this post-Twitter world.
Mastodon
Another microblogging system that's decentralized, open-source, free to use, and free of ads.
I want to like this one a lot more than I actually do. The vibe depends heavily on the particular subreddit you're in.
This can be handy when looking for a job, but that’s about it.
Multimedia #
YouTube
I don’t post videos often at all, but one of these days, I may start.
Reading and Writing #
Substack
This is like an extension of my website that allows commenting. My posts here are mostly free, but I also include short stories and special goodies for paid subscribers.
Goodreads
I was pretty excited about this platform years ago, before Amazon bought it. Since then, it seems to have stagnated, resting on its laurels. So it goes.
Amazon
What can you say about Amazon? Nothing good. But leaving a review on there would help me out a lot, so here's the link.
Wattpad
I mostly abandoned this platform years ago, but this is where I got my start (back when it was ad-free with no paid tier).
Learning and Development #
Duolingo
Here's another company that I used to be excited about back when their mission was to be completely free, crowdsourced, no AI, etc. Still useful, just disappointing.
GitHub
I don't really put much on GitHub, but this is something potential employers look at, so here! A few open-source projects for you.
CodePen
This is a pretty fun in-browser tool for creating small web-based projects to show off.
Dwitter
It's like old-school Twitter for JavaScript. Kind of a fun puzzle to see what can be accomplished in such limited space.
Khan Academy
A free system for learning just about anything. I haven't done much in this space, but they made posting content here part of the job application process, so I did that years ago.
Quora
I don't know about this site. It seems cool in theory, but it always feels spammy, and I've yet to get paid for any of my contributions.
Shopping and Support #
Redbubble
Buy some merch, like T-shirts and stickers I designed.
Ko-fi
Show your support with a small donation. Just let me know what project you'd like me to put it toward.
